I will try and replace these photos later with better ones taken with real camera. These were using camera phone.
My biggest recycling project? Renovating a 1967 Ranch built by a doctor (that probably should have stuck to medicine) but is across the street from my parents. Oh and really it's a "long faced split entry" pardon my ranch. So how do you make a brown box more interesting? Lot's of ideas but not as easy as it looks on HGTV for sure.

Rock Garden Soil Mix
Finally decided enough digging and put the soil in. Read a lot of different "how-to's" for rock gardening and decided to do peat, sand, rocks, moisture control Miracle Gro about 1:1:1:1 ratio. Probably more peat then the others but close.

Breathe
Well I realize it's hard to say they look great but I like this better than before. I like that you can see the trunks that remain and their unique shapes.
Lori Graham...the next topiary artist?
OK originally she thought she might shear them in the shape of bumble bees or big fluffly clouds and I must admit I ruined that. I made this big gouging cut and was relegated to picking up branches and such (4 garbage cans full and still more left). But hey I like this better then they were before! One very good reason now when I take pictures of the house and want to morph it, it's even easier to see what lies behind them!

Before...
Before...
Our sort of plan perhaps we should have somehow painted it on with spray paint. This topiary stuff is hard!

More work inside on Rock Garden
Quite a ways to go! Can't dig right now.... hmph.
And then there will be getting some cooperation from neighbor so I can spruce up his side of easement and work on the median.

Starting on front yard!
I planted 6 bare root double knock out roses today and started digging for the corner of the yard rock garden. I overheated before 10 am so now just going out for short bits. Here's a collage that is hopefully close to the end product since it includes plants I bought for that corner and rocks we plan to move.
Now I need a nappy nap!
