Melody's Ranch Makeover

I found someone with very similar front yard issues to mine on Fine Gardening asking for help. So thought what the heck a new collage!

Before

So I used some of the pictures I have of beautiful conifers around steps to redo her entry and front yard.

After

So I hope she likes it! Of course if I had to name all those plants it'd be tough. Basically there are 2 Dwarf Alberta Spruce, 2 Dwarf someother kind of Spruce (sorry I'm thinking Norway), lot of false cypress the weeping gold kind, low growing juniper, phlox, and the airy plant in the back that's yellow I'm thinking is goldenspire.   OK I need to hone down these plants if Melody sees this!

  1. Golden Threadleaf False Cypress Few plants can provide a lift of sunny gold through the entire winter, but this evergreen can. With a gentle, drooping habit reminiscent of a pony’s mane, and unique texture, it keeps the garden bright in the deadest months.

  2. The yellow whispy background bush...
Buddleia, Butterfly Bush This special plant also has a unique form, and lovely indigo flower spikes (depending on the variety). Plant it where you can see it well, because not only does it attract butterflies, but it’s a favourite of hummingbirds as well. The entertainment is constant and blossoms will continue to grow provided you diligently clip off faded flower spikes to the two small buds on either side of their base. This plant appreciates regular fertilizer more than most!

  3. And instead of the upright spruce's I couldn't name I would use the Bird's nest Spruce like Picea pungens ‘Montgomery.

  4. And I would paint the siding a green or even better dark red!
